Rakuen @ D'Aguilar Street

I always love okinawan food, its like part japanese, part chinese food, and an entire whole new experience on its own. Rakuen is more than a restaurant, it is an isakaya style restaurant, with a great outdoor terrace, which makes for a great casual ambience for a bit of alcohol with food . The food will not blow you away like in some of fancier restaurants, but it is good quality and down-to earth stuff, and absolutely satisfying in terms of taste and flavours. All the dishes we have ordered are delicious, and theres a wide selection of awamori , shochu and sake. I totally give it 4 out 5 stars.

shiso shochu -tantakaten

outdoor terrace- its winter, but do brings you back to okinawa

Peanut Tofu - nice densely textured tofu

a signature okinawan dish - stir fried bitter gourd with pork and tofu , you never thought that bitter gourd can be so delicious.

Daikon salad - a personal favourite, only peeve is that too little daikon....

Okinawan gyoza - I was craving for a bit of gyoza, and to my surprise, these are one of best gyozas I have ever eaten.

squid ink fried rice - it looks nondescript, but it is bursting with flavours, and as I am such a big fan of anything squid ink, can't help but love this dish.
