SenShu Raku @ The GoldMark, HK

My first dinner in HKG with friends....and they organised at SenshuRaku.....this building houses at least 4 or 5 different japanese restaurants eg. the Mon, etc etc....

The waitress ( surprisingly) has a great though dark sense of humour, and decor was the usual intimate style.

Though food was alright, ( average ) and not great...I nonetheless enjoy the whole experience.

This is what it looks like......

Sushi Moriwase - its average, not bad, but not amazing either

Thats a salmon with eel rool

Chicken Cartilage skewer - I wished that it was a bit more charred though, so the sides can be crispy

Salt- grilled cod . I always love cod...but if the grilled cod is grilled till mushy, it is a waste of the fish. This is firm in most parts, but mushy in some....so still average grilling skills to me.

Agedashi Tofu - can't really go wrong with this, unless you use very inferior ingredients

Grilled beef steak with scallions, this is actually very delicious.

Tsukune - yes, it looks different from other Tsukune skewer...I felt that the Tsukune did not bring out the taste of the chicken, but instead taste mainly of the sauce.

Alright, go there if the Mon is full....you might be able to get seats there.

Chung's Kitchen@ Times Square

Another of my friends' recommendation when I demanded for Dim Sum in HK. The taste is not too bad.....anyway, how can you go wrong with Dim sum in HK???? Overall, the noisy cantonese ambience, good double broiled soup makes it a good experience.

But is it that special, I don't think so...I think its good if you are around the area....but not worth the journey if you live in ....like FanLing.

Look at the Logo...........

BBQ pork baked custard bun....seriously, only the Hongkongers can come up with these ridiculous food combinations and make them taste good.

Dumplings - if you know me, you know I like dumplings of all sorts...saved those with shrimps....

Lor Pa Gao.....fried carrot cake...

Chicken Feet - Pieds du poulet is one of my 'must-have' dish in HK.

Beancurd Roll in Oyster Sauce - Yummy

Cheong Fun - BBQ pork version

Choeng Fun - Shrimp version

Table filled with Dim Sum - I Heart!

Dim sum with a Shanghaiese twist , again only in HK can you find it. Deep fried Aubergines ....

ZhuJiaCai @ Lee Theater CWB

tasty home cooked food...I found the portions too big though...not the most refined Cantonese cusine around..but it is good simple food with loads of flavour...

The menu with loads of dishes

Kailan with eggs done in 3 ways - century egg, salted egg & normal egg

sweet & sour pork - like!

prawns in garlic - apparently, it is sooo good, but I can't eat prawns

steamed egg - soft and wobbly....

steamed pork patty with preserved vegetable - i really like this one

pork ribs in pumpkin - it is supposed to be the special winter dish...i say skip it...too rich, and not flavourful enough...

Sushi Hiro @ Causeway Bay

Sushi Hiro is one of many good places to have sushi & sashimi in Hong Kong...I don't really trust the whole in the wall types...and the presence of the Japanese crowd reassured me..that it must be a good nice sushi bar. Very very delicious sushi...the freshness is something you can taste....luuurrvv it.

Lunch set is very worthwhile

very unpretentious ambience

amuse bouche

chawan mushi that comes with the set...kiff!

GongDelin@WTC, Causeway Bay

This is the only vegetarian restaurant I have been to in Hong Kong, that serves really tasty vegetarian food.....its rare in Hong Kong, the food was fantastic...and full of flavours yet low on MSG taste...I would definately recommend anyone to go for a good healthy and delicious vegetarian meal....

well, apparently, it is Shanghaiese cusine...not Cantonese cuisine as I envisioned...

Vegetarian Dan Dan Mian - we all agree it taste like a non-spicy version of mee rebus..luvit.

tofu dumplings with spinach fillings - really simple dish, very authentic flavours.....and a really healthy dish too!

Shanghaiese Sheng Jian Bao - with tarragon/spinach fillings...so delicious....

this is a must order - crispy pork strips...alright, its gluten/beancurd...but so delicious!!

Banyan Garden Chinese Restaurant @ Wesley Hotel CWB

Yeah...this is another dim sum blog! There have been a few dim sum restaurants that I have blogged about...Dim Sum in Hong Kong is very very competitive...each dim sum restaurants usually serves up pretty good dim sum ( compared to Singapore) and will have their own house specialities..This one in Wesley Hotel is recommended by a local...not a lot of long queues...sufficiently reasonable and well-done dim sum..and their specials seems to be ShunDe dishes...we tried the Shunde fishcakes which was great..but the other cantonese dishes seemed normal...

Shrimp rice rolls

Shunde Fish cakes - these are yummy...not the usual sad fried carp cakes..

Xiao Long Bao

Chicken Bun with ginger sauce....this is tasty too..

Beancurd Roll in oyster sauce

Lau Sau Bao

Soup dumpling  - this is pretty good

SML @ Times Square CWB

SML is quite a nice concept because it allows people to do tasting in the restaurants and provides people with the ooportunity to try many different kinds of food. But, I am not impressed...the food has not much special quality to it, I think any italian/french restaurant in Soho beats this place. The upside is that the desserts are not bad, maybe it is just a place for desserts..? They also have an unbeatable cocktail - caramel champagne.....

SML Menu

Octopus antipasti dish - ermmm the octopus is really quite tough...

Caesar Salad - a little strange, but normal tasting

Pate Bruschetta - this is pretty interesting, knowing my passion for all animal fat.:)

Meatballs, octopus and pate bruschetta - the meatballs aren't bad..but it is a bit dry, I still do prefer the meatballs from Post Publico.

My Small Main dish - Grilled cod with carrots strips in pesto sauce. Sauce, and Cod are normal...not amazing..and the carrot strips are just kinda plain bizarre.

Mango Meringue - yum!

Cream chous with caramel!!

Molten chocolate cake.:)

Chocolate mousse - I can't remember the name..but it is really smooth and nice..
