Post Publico, Elgin Street

Post Publico is a warm and unpretentious American Italian food. Not that the italian food is not authentic, it does not really taste like food from Italy, but it is a steakhouse version of pasta - good, hearty and warm. Totally will recommend this place for the great food, great dessert and their extensive selection of wines. The pasta are great, not a super refined taste but completely hearty and satisfying.

Menu du jour

They bake their own bread, fresh everyday.

Veal Meatballs - best meatballs ever

pancetta and peas tagiallini

orechiette with capini?

flogora - balsamic strawberry, basil ice-cream..yum!

Thai- Chinese Restaurant - Shek-O

I never thought that Shek-O would have one of the best Thai restaurants in Hong Kong, and here it is. The real taste of Thailand, think coconut milk, lemongrass, coriander, etc etc.....every mouthful is an explosion of different taste.....I love Thai food.I only manage to taste 4 dishes this time, I swore that i am going to go back there to sample their 200 dish menu...

The menu is a 20 Page Menu featuring all the delicious Thai food, and Thai Chinese food

Pandan Chicken - just delicious

Stir -fried Morning glory - I always order this dish in all Thai/Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants to check out their authenticity, if this is done well, you can be assured that the rest of dishes are good as well. This one in SHek-O definately pass my test.

Deep Fried Cod with Basil - so Thai and so good...

Chicken in coconut milk - its amazing with such un appetizing name, this dish is so wonderful, coconut milk, stewed with chicken, lemongrass and galangal and plenty of spices....I think that is a lanna thai dish.

群众小厨- Gresson Street, Admiralty/Wanchai

This is really a gem hidden in Hong Kong. One of the best chinese food I have ever tasted in Hong Kong. Hidden in a small ruelle near to Pacific Place 3 exit, it serves up the best chinese concoction, well, environment  wise, its cleaner than most dai pai dong, but of course not the place to enjoy your valentine's dinner. But just order anything, it is guaranteed to be good if not fantastic.

Stir-fried chives, beansprout and deep fried white bait

Stir Fried Vermicelli with Scallops - divine, you have to order this!

This is the perfect duck dish - crispy roasted duck skin on the outside, and smoked duck French style on the inside, it is the best!

Fried Eel in Vinegar - the sauce, and the technique of the chef is to be admired, but I think Chinese eel lacks the delicateness of Japanese style cooked eel. But overall great dish!

Ginger and Sping Onion Stir-friend Frog. I love frog, what can i say, its great. It can't beat the Kong Po frog in Geylang Singapore, but it is absolutely appetizing.

stir-fried clams in black bean sauce

3 cup Chicken - this is soooo good.

Seafood fried rice - the garlicky taste is sooo amazing..

deep-fried eggplant with sweet and sour sauce - very very good

Prawns coated with salted egg yolk

House of Jasmine (八月居)

This is one of Maxim's chain in Harbour City in TST. Food is a fusion of Shanghaiese and Cantonese cusine.
It offers a great view of a harbour and is definately a good place to bring visiting friends. The food there is above average, exceptional dishes are the roasted meat which are a mainstay of Maxim's restaurant and the dishes are presented beautifully. Do try the huge variety of jasmine tea, which is aromatique and refreshing.
The desserts are average, but in general good.

lotus root amuse & jasmine tea

GuiFei Chicken Soup - Nice deep flavour

Sour & Spicy Soup - average though...

House specialty - Spring Rolls, it is a must-try

This is an amazing vegetarien dish - mixed mushrooms with bamboo plinth with stock sauce

Roasted meat combi - the goose is good, but the roast pig and char siew is magnifique!

Another great vegetarien dish - aparagus in pumpkin puree.

almond dessert - I love the little chou next to it...

Rakuen @ D'Aguilar Street

I always love okinawan food, its like part japanese, part chinese food, and an entire whole new experience on its own. Rakuen is more than a restaurant, it is an isakaya style restaurant, with a great outdoor terrace, which makes for a great casual ambience for a bit of alcohol with food . The food will not blow you away like in some of fancier restaurants, but it is good quality and down-to earth stuff, and absolutely satisfying in terms of taste and flavours. All the dishes we have ordered are delicious, and theres a wide selection of awamori , shochu and sake. I totally give it 4 out 5 stars.

shiso shochu -tantakaten

outdoor terrace- its winter, but do brings you back to okinawa

Peanut Tofu - nice densely textured tofu

a signature okinawan dish - stir fried bitter gourd with pork and tofu , you never thought that bitter gourd can be so delicious.

Daikon salad - a personal favourite, only peeve is that too little daikon....

Okinawan gyoza - I was craving for a bit of gyoza, and to my surprise, these are one of best gyozas I have ever eaten.

squid ink fried rice - it looks nondescript, but it is bursting with flavours, and as I am such a big fan of anything squid ink, can't help but love this dish.

KIKU ( Basement at Landmark Building)

Kiku is highly recommended by some of the other food blogs, even for the Japanese. The decor and ambience is slightly too opulent for my taste, and it is a good entertainment place for big groups and parties. I was not too sure of it at first owning to the fact that it was own by Maxim's group .  The sashimi there is lacklustre, but the yakitori and cooked food items are very good . But overall the food is not on par with some of the other Japanese restaurants I have been to. I definately recommend going there with big groups, and ordering loads of grilled stuff.

Sashimi - part 1 of the Set dinner AME

Tofu with grilled eel. This is a wonderful combination, and both eel and tofu are done well.

Deep Fried Eel Bone - it could have been a great dish, if the chef have used better oil.

Aburi Salmon Salad - not too good, the salmon is tasteless.

Grilled Mackerel with Salt- the grilled foods in KIKU is just amazing, the skin is cripsy and the meat inside moist and tender.

Grilled Eggplant with Miso- done beautifully, a perfect grilled dish

Grilled chicken with Leek- Yum!

Nabe Udon

Flower Trump Restaurant 花满楼 (Wyndham Street)

It was a recommendation of a friend that I went to this restaurant in Central. After tasting so much Zhejiang food in Hangzhou, the food in this restaurant do not really surprise me, but I have to say, the dishes are in general well done, and it is a good place to introduce folks to Zhejiang cuisine, if they have never tasted it before. I give it 3.5 stars. They have some good dishes like the hot spicy soup, and 干炒四季豆 .

appetizer - cucumber with conpoy ( nice!)

干炒四季豆

really good spicy and sour soup

sauteed fish on crispy rice crackers

dong po pork - it is very nice, not too special though
