West Villa @ City Plaza (西苑)

Back to my Hong Kong food blogging.....still missed my second family there very much....but I enjoy life in SG. Somehow less stressful and nicer peeps.....

West Villa in Cityplaza apparently serves pretty old-school dim sum. They have the age old dim sum specials like chicken feet wrapped in beancurd sheet kinda stuff.

Having been out of HK for so long....everything taste sooo yummy.....theres a few dishes thats spectacular...but overall not too bad. I still prefer Maxim's nearby...but its a second choice if Maxim makes you wait too long.

Char Siew Bun - average lah....

Taro Balls - with deep fried taro filled with minced meat...who can resist

Sampan porridge

Shunde carp fishcake - this taste pretty good here...

Zha Liang - always nice and greasy

This is a fav summer find - steamed loofah with vermicelli..very yummy

Pretty good but average for HK standard siew mai

Chicken's feet - also not too bad

Steamed Rice rolls

Chung's Kitchen@ Times Square

Another of my friends' recommendation when I demanded for Dim Sum in HK. The taste is not too bad.....anyway, how can you go wrong with Dim sum in HK???? Overall, the noisy cantonese ambience, good double broiled soup makes it a good experience.

But is it that special, I don't think so...I think its good if you are around the area....but not worth the journey if you live in ....like FanLing.

Look at the Logo...........

BBQ pork baked custard bun....seriously, only the Hongkongers can come up with these ridiculous food combinations and make them taste good.

Dumplings - if you know me, you know I like dumplings of all sorts...saved those with shrimps....

Lor Pa Gao.....fried carrot cake...

Chicken Feet - Pieds du poulet is one of my 'must-have' dish in HK.

Beancurd Roll in Oyster Sauce - Yummy

Cheong Fun - BBQ pork version

Choeng Fun - Shrimp version

Table filled with Dim Sum - I Heart!

Dim sum with a Shanghaiese twist , again only in HK can you find it. Deep fried Aubergines ....

Sportful Garden @ Shueng Wan Golden Center

Alright, another good Dim Sum place ( remember its not fabulous), but they do serve some pretty interesting stuff...and loads of abalone...so its good as part of the HK dim sum experience.

Mock Goose - actually very nice

Char Siew Steam rice roll - you got it, I really dig this dish, but its pretty alright here but again not fabulous

some exotic dumpling with scallop and vegetables

Xiao Long Bao - so so

Abalone Siew Mai - did I mention Abalone? :)

Minced Beef Ball with chestnut

Char Siew Bao

North Garden @ Shueng Wan Man Yee Building

Another Dim Sum place....I am getting good at discerning good dim sum ( which you can find all over HK) to fabulous dim sum ( rare gems)..so this place is a good dim sum place...well, that says it all right? But for visitors...if you can't find a place anywhere else...its quite a decent place.

Roasted pork - really crispy skin

Char Siew Steamed rice roll -ok lah

Turnip cake with fried garlic on top

Char Siew pastry

Chicken feet braised ( I like this very much), it is not mushy

Lei Garden @ North Point City Garden

Dim sum is still my favourite HK food...it provides opportunity for senseless chatter, and allowing awkward pauses to be punctuated with moments when the steaming hot dim sum arrive...not that I need it with my friends..I talked too much with them. Well, this weekend, we tried a new place..Lei Garden at North point..Lei Garden is a sort of HK establishment, and it sure serves up some decent dim sum.
Pearl Chicken

Garlic with cucumbers

Han Shui Kok - deep fried meat pockets

Steam rice roll with Char Siew

Egg Custard Bun

Tofu braised in Soya Sauce

Beef pan-fried bun

Pan-fried carrot cake

Taro Pockets

House of Canton @ Cityplaza Taikoo Shing

Another Dim Sum blog.....I do not think I will ever encounter such variety of dim sum anywhere else in the world other than HK. Alright, House of Canton is a great dim sum place...the traditional dim sum is very delicious, with some unusual dishes...they are quite Shanghaiese style if I am not wrong..Great place to eat , even better than Maxims in the same building...though ambience is very typically chinese restaurant. These pictures are taken with Iphone 4 , in retrospect....it doesn't seem so great...

Century egg and pork porridge

Shrimp Steamed Rice rolls

Prawn and Mango roll

Honey Glazed eel - very nice!

Pot Stickers - a bit too moist though

Vegetable dumpling - ok I am a sucker for dumplings...
