Satsuma @ Gallery Evason Hotel

Satsuma is one slightly casual, slightly pricy japanese izakaya, which also doubles up as a shochu tasting bar.
Love the concept, and they serve up something like 50 kinds of different shochu, which also comes in tasting portions ( costing half the price). Well, they have sake too....

Alcohol in Singapore is still too expensive, but the food was pretty tasty. Not bad for Singapore standard....

Menu - Satsuma

Salmon & Avocado Tartare - this is real yummy

Tofu Salad

Tsukune & Beef skewers

Kawa - grilled chicken skin ( this one is very good and very crispy), bad news for my cholesterol levels though.

Grilled Shisamo & Chicken Cartilege

Ryo-Tei@Westlands Road

It was my first day in HK, missing it throughly after 7 months of not living there. I remember that there was a ramen place taking over the congee shop near to my old office...So I went to check it out....

Pleasant surprise. The quality of ramen beats quite a bit in SG which I have tasted........good one!

The Menu again!

I asked for some kimchi to up my vegetable quantum...

Shoyu Ramen! The soup base is yum, the noodles is yum, and best of all, they got the eggs right! :)

Chung's Kitchen@ Times Square

Another of my friends' recommendation when I demanded for Dim Sum in HK. The taste is not too bad.....anyway, how can you go wrong with Dim sum in HK???? Overall, the noisy cantonese ambience, good double broiled soup makes it a good experience.

But is it that special, I don't think so...I think its good if you are around the area....but not worth the journey if you live in ....like FanLing.

Look at the Logo...........

BBQ pork baked custard bun....seriously, only the Hongkongers can come up with these ridiculous food combinations and make them taste good.

Dumplings - if you know me, you know I like dumplings of all sorts...saved those with shrimps....

Lor Pa Gao.....fried carrot cake...

Chicken Feet - Pieds du poulet is one of my 'must-have' dish in HK.

Beancurd Roll in Oyster Sauce - Yummy

Cheong Fun - BBQ pork version

Choeng Fun - Shrimp version

Table filled with Dim Sum - I Heart!

Dim sum with a Shanghaiese twist , again only in HK can you find it. Deep fried Aubergines ....

MOS Brothers @ Elgin Street

MOS Brothers - aka Mostaccioli Brothers

MOS Brothers - an Italian joint along Elgin Street was raved upon by one of my best friends in HKG, he goes on and on about how they are nice to him, and how wine is cheap and good there....so I gotta try that when I was visiting there.

All who knows me, knows that I take pictures of the menu..., kinda cute motifs....the cook & the mafia? I am guessing the chefs are from Sicily?

Yes, they make their own beautiful bread too!

The bread is pretty good with different kind of pestos to dip in...

Lunch set minestrone soup - so so.....

I had this special pasta, which is anchovies pasta. The pasta is good...but the taste of anchovies is a tad too slight. But overall, it do taste very good.......all washed down with a nice glass of white! :) Now thats life!

Only lunch comments, coz I didn't have time to stay till dinner. The pasta was well done, al dente, and a bit modern italian pasta. Totally different approach from Cenacolo which goes the hearty italian Mama route.

If I would go back again, yes, if it is what my friend said about the cheap and good wine!

Where did I go?

Ahhh, an almost one year hiatus from the blog, comprising of disappointing flings, changing countries, crazy trips out of HK, fabulous friends which I unfortunately left in HK. I am back updating the blog.

Now I am back home in SG, spending time with family. Who would have ever thought of that for me? I figured that its something I have to do. Now that my seemingly cushy job is upping the pressure for me, I need to eat more...so blogging is back!
