House of Canton @ Cityplaza Taikoo Shing

Another Dim Sum blog.....I do not think I will ever encounter such variety of dim sum anywhere else in the world other than HK. Alright, House of Canton is a great dim sum place...the traditional dim sum is very delicious, with some unusual dishes...they are quite Shanghaiese style if I am not wrong..Great place to eat , even better than Maxims in the same building...though ambience is very typically chinese restaurant. These pictures are taken with Iphone 4 , in retrospect....it doesn't seem so great...

Dragon-i Dim Sum

Club by night and dim sum restaurant by day...this is such a strange concept, that I didn't find out until I started living in HK 3 years ago..Well, the dim sum there , is not too bad, but neither is it spectacular like some of the places I have been to in Hong Kong. They do a decent selection and the ambience is pretty good. Well, its fun with a group of like-minded friends and have dim sum there for 3 hours...and its near to my place...what more can I say......don't bother if you are looking for unique culinary experience though...

Wagyu En @ 11 Stanley Street

11 Stanley is a new building opened along Stanley Street, and in the long weekend, we decided to try the food there.. As with all the En chain of restaurants, food is really good, and they do an innovative take on Japanese food. Wagyu En is supposed to be famous for the beef..and we had a beef rice bowl, absolutely divine. Another thing to try is actually honey toast with ice cream...simple, satisfying and just surprising...

Menu

Squid Ink Risotto balls - I love it!

Tofu Salad with Yuzu dressing

vegetables and scallop gratin

Famous Wagyu Beef bowl

Liberty Exchange@ the Forum (IFC)

Well, I always walked the Exchange bar...too many bankers for me to go in to have a quiet drink...but the 2nd floor dining area ia a really pretty place. Fashion a la New York style, the food, I must say is not too bad. The appetizers are lack lustre, but the plat principals are all very well done, hearty and flavourful like all good-tasting american style food, especially the meat dishes. Desserts are really good too...! But it is a little bit pricey, and probably, I would skip the appetizers the next time I am there.

The Menu -quite a lot of choices for steaks

home baked bread - a must!

Sausage platter Appetizer - can pass

Mussels - somehow, the mussels were not fresh..and we were totally turned off this dish

Cocktail shrimps - anyway I look at it, its boiled shrimps...really nothing special

Fried Chicken with waffles - the sauce is really amazing, chicken was very very well marinated and fried

Lamb Shank - very well roasted lamb shank

Salmon with a special sauce - this is pretty normal

Seafood risotto - ok as well

Roasted duck with croquette - I love it!

Cod fish pan fried with julienne vegetables - very very nice

I think this was the panna cotta

Marsh Mallow Tiramisu - yum!

Enoteca @ Elgin Street

Enoteca has been around since I moved to Hong Kong, and I never tried it till a friend of mine  brought me there....great tapas overall, excellent service, and we had a nice bottle of spanish white..which really goes well with the tapas and the slightly sweetish aroma. I would definately go there again....prices are reasonable there to boot. Oh yeah!

The wonderful menu of tapas

potato wedges with sea salt and rosemary

Portobello mushrooms with feta and tomatoes

Seared tuna loim with sesame seed

Little pasta with garlic & basil - yum!

Parmesan risotto balls

Fried calamari with lemon aioli - who on earth can resist a dish like that?

grilled Salmon steak with some yogurty sauce on top

Beef tenderloin cubes with crackled black pepper and red pepper - extremely good

Another beef dish - I think it is Beef steak with rosemary..something

Spicy Chorizo

Garlic grilled prawns

Tiramisu - looks like fertiliser.....but taste really great...
