KIKU ( Basement at Landmark Building)

Kiku is highly recommended by some of the other food blogs, even for the Japanese. The decor and ambience is slightly too opulent for my taste, and it is a good entertainment place for big groups and parties. I was not too sure of it at first owning to the fact that it was own by Maxim's group .  The sashimi there is lacklustre, but the yakitori and cooked food items are very good . But overall the food is not on par with some of the other Japanese restaurants I have been to. I definately recommend going there with big groups, and ordering loads of grilled stuff.

Sashimi - part 1 of the Set dinner AME

Tofu with grilled eel. This is a wonderful combination, and both eel and tofu are done well.

Deep Fried Eel Bone - it could have been a great dish, if the chef have used better oil.

Aburi Salmon Salad - not too good, the salmon is tasteless.

Grilled Mackerel with Salt- the grilled foods in KIKU is just amazing, the skin is cripsy and the meat inside moist and tender.

Grilled Eggplant with Miso- done beautifully, a perfect grilled dish

Grilled chicken with Leek- Yum!
