Todamgol Korean Restaurant @ Neil Road

Sunday night dinner with my girlfriend, and yes we ended up in this place....I thought the decor was fairly interesting , and have been going through a korean phase ......and there we go.

Is it good korean food , in my tropical little mind, I quite like the taste of it all.
Is it mind-blow korean food, very tasty but not mind-blowing lah....

and I am in love with markooli...their version of shandy.

Good variety of amuse-bouche dishes.

Markooli, margooli - dun know the exact spelling, but loved the taste

Buckwheat cold noodle

Kimchi Stew

BBQ ribs

JangWon Korean Restaurant @ Mosque Street

This dinner was a gathering of bride & bridesmaids - that was seriously my first attempt at being a bridesmaid despite my advanced age. Hahaha, that aside, back to the real topic...my friends did some research, and we decided on this Korean resto since the bride hails from the US and is dying for some Asian food.

Though I beg to differ that the Korean food here is the best in town, I nonetheless think that it is pretty good.... I still think Auntie Kim ( from my previous post) is way more authentic......

The menu has no name, and this is the only place I can get a decent picture of the name.

A rather decent selection of Korean hors d'oerves, my favourite being the tofu

Jap Chae - lurrrve it......only the Koreans can do it this well.

Korean Kimchi Hotpot - love this soup base, spicy, kimchi and all. it comes also with Ramen noodles ( my fav carbs) and also tofu, luncheon meat, sausages, mushrooms and what not....

Seafood Pancake - I always dig this soooo much. I reckon I can have this everyday.

Hot plate pork - the pork ended up a tad too chewy.......so I am not impressed.

Auntie Kim @ Mapletree Business City

My sister's place was quite close to this place and when its time for the big family eat-out, she suggested Auntie Kim's. I missed so much real Korean food, and all thought it is a good idea.

Food was great and value for money...portions are big and I believe this is the authentic Korean taste. Other than being not in the city center, I would definately like to go back there again. Especially loved the seafood pancake..! Very hard to find in SG.

Stir Fried vermicelli - Jab Chae; this is really yummy, a must order

The wonderful array of Korean Amuse bouche, which is usually a good indicator of the standard of the restaurant

Kimchi Tofu Soup - yummy

Chicken Soup - not with Ginseng but with wolf berry...though I always prefer the Cantonese double broiled soup style. I loved this soup base!

Hot plate kimchi pork - I didn't really like this dish...though the pork was done too dry but love the raw enoki mushrooms and the sauce

Rice cakes in spicky sauce - very very good, sauce is great, the rice cakes are light, chewy and absolutely heavenly. Loved the way cucumber is incoporated into the dish

Seafood pancake - I like very very much!

Kimchi Fried Rice - good but not mind blowing for me.

Pork Belly wrapped in lettuce and accompanied with different sauces. This is soo original that i would say that you gotta try it. :)

Wa Bar@ Tanjong Pagar

Alright, in case you are wondering. This is primarily a bar, and then they serve some food here and there as drinking snacks.....not the same delicateness as the japanese izakaya...but rather a mixture of americanism, korean hip-hop, and loads of Big Bang playing in the background ( and in case you don't know who Big Bang is.... not refering to the beginning of time and space as postulated by Hawkings, but rather a Korean band loved by anyone under the age of 30)

Good solid fun food, and I love Makooli. Its a fun place to be, with rather good food.....though I couldn't figure out where the kitchen is....

Makooli - :) I shall call it Korean Wine Beer....since the alcoholic content is so low

They served it in a miso soup bowl

Garlic Chicken - this is really good.......dun know how they cooked it, its sweet and savoury and garlicky.....yum

Some exotic udon cooked with pork in some dark sauce....sauce was great and the pork slices was yummy.....the noodles was a tad undercooked though.....hopefully...next time it will be better.
